School Garden - Wildlife Seating Area and Pond

  • To create an area where children could sit in some shade, and also learn about wildlife.

A paved garden was created from a previously unused, uneven and hazardous area. The children can access the borders easily to investigate wildlife, and tree seats surround walnut trees, providing shade. The borders are full of log piles and wildflowers as well as buddleja, wild rose, hawthorn and honeysuckle.

The adjoining pond area was tidied up, a bog garden created taking water from a nearby hut roof, and trellis and a gate installed for access. It's now a safe and valuable learning resource, a haven for frogs, newts and lots of other pond life.
