You may have just moved to a new property and want some advice, or perhaps need an in-depth consultation on some aspect(s) of your garden that cannot be covered in the free half hour consultation. I can make a visit and produce a report for you, all charged at an hourly rate.
I can update a garden in all sorts of ways...
Typically, a single border may need attention. I work with the existing layout and planting and carry out a 're-vamp'. This may take a single day, or perhaps a longer period of time, depending on what needs to be done. Old shrubs can be removed, and new plants planted.
Maybe the lawn needs re-shaping - it's surprising what a difference defining the shape of the lawn can make.
You may want screening - I can give you some advice on what would be suitable, and plant the necessary hedge or trees. A desire for a particular tree? I am happy to source, deliver and plant this for you.
You may be unhappy with the 'kerb appeal' of your front garden - I can prepare it for a property sale, or simply for you to enjoy it some more.
Free half hour initial consultation applies.
Involves the following stages:
I make a free visit for half an hour (subject to area) to view your garden and discuss your requirements. Whether you have a very clear idea of what you want, or none at all, I can show you my portfolio and a selection of inspirational ideas, and we can discuss the options.
If you would like to then go ahead with a design, I will e-mail or post a quotation, based on the size and complexity of the proposed garden. Similarly, if you would like to go ahead with a garden update (see above), I will post a quotation for this work.
The site is surveyed using digital level equipment - measurements and photographs taken.
I present to you a scaled draft drawing showing the proposed layout of the new design. This is the opportunity for you to digest the new ideas and if you would like to make any changes, they can be incorporated at this stage. A final plan is drawn up, and when this is approved by yourself, I provide copies in order for you to obtain quotations for the building work, giving you the details of a trusted landscaper. I can also give you an estimate of the planting costs at this stage.
I normally include a planting plan as standard, but it is optional. I discuss with you any plant preferences that you may have, e.g. perhaps certain colours are favourites, and you can tell me if there are any flower colours or plants that you can't stand! I can also incorporate any existing planting in your garden that is appropriate to keep. The plan will detail all the plants and their positions in the borders, and a list will specify the sizes and heights required.
You may want to carry out the planting yourself from the plan, or else I can give you a quotation for myself to do this work.
I recommend landscapers that I have worked with many times over the years to carry out the building work, or if you have a certain contact that you would prefer to use, that is perfectly fine. The landscapers that I recommend are accustomed to working from my designs and I can vouch strongly for their expertise and professionalism.
When the landscaper has completed the construction of the garden, I can then, usually immediately, begin the planting. I buy the plants mainly from a wholesale nursery, which I then provide to you at either less than, or equivalent to garden centre prices, certainly no more. I enlist other gardeners to help me with the heavy work of planting trees and large shrubs etc.
I offer a list of tips on how to keep the borders and structures looking their best and can refer you to a good maintenance gardener. I am also very happy to make say 3 visits a year to carry out any pruning or extra planting etc.
